My Favorite City

5 years ago I called my cousin Heather to see if I could visit her for a few days back in Virginia. She of course didn't mind. I absolutely loved it there and before I left she said that if I ever wanted to move back there I could live with her until I found some people to live with, a job, etc. Well I pretty much knew my answer while sitting at the airport waiting to come back to AZ and crying because I didn't want to leave. A month later I set out on a cross country drive with my mom to go to a place that, little did I know, would change my life. I lived with Heather for about a month and then moved closer to DC and found a fabulous job, roommates, and unforgettable friends. I only lived out there for a year and a half and now I wonder why I ever left...

I had the opportunity to work in Richmond the other week and since its only about a 2 hour drive to DC I couldn't pass the opportunity to go see some friends and family. I am so bummed I didn't take more pictures but it honestly felt like I had never left so I didn't pull out my camera all too much... Here are some pics though:

They have 2 new memorials since I have moved back to AZ. The first one we went to was the Air Force Memorial. It was very cool. View of DC from the Air Force Memorial:

The other new one is the Pentagon Memorial. This was just dedicated this past Labor Day. They have a bench for every person who had died when the plane crashed into the Pentagon on 9-11. If you could read the name on the bench, look up and see the pentagon then that means the person was in the Pentagon at the time of the crash. If you were looking away from the Pentagon, they were on the plane. They had them in rows of the year they were born. The youngest was 3 and the oldest was 71. I had tears in my eyes walking around all of the benches.

We walked around the monuments downtown but since I used to go down there all of the time I didn't take pics. I did of course have to take one of the White House. I still can't believe that i used to work only 6 blocks away from this place...crazy!

It was such a fun trip and I'm so glad I got to hang out with friends (shout out to Julie, Jenny and Laura!), family, and the city that I love!
Me and Heather on my last day. I need Heather to send me the pic of my aunt Jerri and I so I can post that one as well. :)

I think you and Heather look more like sisters than we do! You had to move away to find Kris. Maybe the two of you could move back there...but only for school. I couldn't imagine you living that far away from me all of the time!
