Saturday we arrived, my friend Jenny picked us up from the airport, we went to a BBQ, then to her house to get ready for dinner. They were having a party at their house so we went out and met up with some other friends in the city...sad I didn't get any pictures from that night.
Sunday we let ourselves sleep in and lazily get ready for the day. We went downtown and went to the American History Museum. They have redone it since I've been there and it was so cool to see the new things that were added. There was the most amazing doll house there! I thought we got a picture of it...but I can't seem to find it anywhere. :( Here is Julia Child's kitchen...
Monday we went to the Natural History Museum, the castle (nothing to really see there), Air and Space Museum, World War II Memorial, Vietnam Wall, Lincoln Memorial, Koren War Memorial, and the Einstein Statue! Whew! We finished the day off at Cosi with yummy sandwiches and smores!

Tuesday morning we had to wake up early since our White House tour was at 8am! We really don't have a choice on the time that the tour takes place. Then we went to the Washington Monument and went up to the top to look out and see the city. It was so pretty! That was a cool thing to do since i never went up when I lived back there. After that we walked to the Jefferson Memorial (my favorite!), FDR Memorial and then back to the Holocaust Museum. LOTS of walking... We then took the Metro to the Pentagon to see the 911 Memorial. Very simple...and very cool.

Wednesday we used Jenny's car and went out to Mt. Vernon, then to Arlington Cemetery. That night we chilled, did laundry and relaxed a bit.

Such a pretty view...

Thursday we went and saw the National Archives and had a tour of the Capital. When I had bought the tickets I had emailed my old roommate Nikki to see if she could get us tickets since I knew she worked on the hill. I hadn't heard back from her...but when we were in Jeff Flake's office I turned and there she was!!! It was so fun to see her! Again, bummed I didn't get a picture with her... She said she doesn't remember seeing my email and then remembered that was probably the time she was coming back from maternity leave...I totally understand!

Friday was our last "full" day but since we had done so much already...there really wasn't that much left to see. So we spent the day walking around Georgetown and seeing a movie. We were walking by Georgetown Cupcakes (for those TLC watchers who watch DC cupcakes) and we saw the Duggers!! I had to take a pic. I mean come one...they are famous right? Well Kris didn't know who they were but everyone else I told did.

Saturday we woke up, went to eat at Eastern Market (YUM!) and then headed home. We had a 3 hour layover in Philadelphia and since there was an earlier flight for Phoenix I thought I would at least ask if we could get on there. The lady at the counter was super nice and hooked us up with tickets for the earlier flight. Well...our flight was delayed from DC to Philly so by the time we got our carry on from the bottom of the plane and booked it to the gate it was already closed. I swear we were maybe 3 minutes late. I was SO upset!! I just wanted to go home to see Staci. So we ended up back on our original flight. The good thing is that our plane landed early and since we were supposed to be on the earlier flight our luggage was already there so we didn't have to wait long.
Thank you family for watching Staci. Thank you Jenny and Tom for letting us invade your house. Thank you Sarah and Rach for the last night stay. Thank you everyone! :)
